Poster Artists Wanted

Are you a Canadian illustrator with a passion for poster art?

FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting is a non-profit organization that defends Canadian culture and democracy. A strong CBC, fearless journalism, and our shared story make us who we are. Millions of citizens care deeply about the future of Canadian media, journalism, and programming. We work tirelessly to advocate on their behalf and we give Canadians opportunities to participate in these campaigns.

Poster Artists Wanted

FRIENDS is currently seeking Canadian illustrators and visual artists to create original poster art on the theme of "I Am Canadian Content" to be used in an upcoming campaign. A series of 11x17” posters will be produced to be distributed to our supporters and made available for sale for a limited time. They are meant to be bold expressions of our cultural sovereignty, and beautiful artistic keepsakes. Artists will receive $500 CDN for the rights to use the work, plus 10 copies of their poster.

To be considered as a poster artist, please fill out our webform below with a link to samples of existing artwork (website portfolio, social media account, etc). Artists with experience and/or a passion for illustrating political messages are especially encouraged to apply.

Please do not submit actual concepts or sketches at this time.

Deadline for applications is 5 pm ET Thursday January 28, 2021.

Selection Process

If selected to be a poster artist, FRIENDS will contact you by Wednesday, February 3 with more details including artwork requirements and specifications.

Selected artists will be asked to submit a concept/sketch of a proposed design by Monday, February 8, for which we will pay $100. If approved, FRIENDS will provide a formal agreement for the commission, and an additional $400.

Deadline for final artwork will be Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

You will be credited as the artist with links to your website whenever and wherever possible.

FRIENDS is particularly interested in representing a diverse body of work for this campaign, and we strongly encourage and welcome applications from across genders, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, religions and beliefs.

This campaign is running in both French and English. Francophone artists should submit here.

Only those selected will be contacted. Thanks for applying!
